I often think about what I write.
More specifically perhaps, why I write about the things I do.
Sometimes, the timbre, message and nuance of what I put to paper is based on conversations I have with valued people in my life.
Other times, it has to do with something I’ve read or the nature of a genre I’ve found myself engrossed in researching during any one period of time.
But mostly, I write based on the quiet reflections that swirl around and through me during quiet moments I carve out into my days; held purposefully and routinely as essential elements for a man so entirely captivated by the human experience and the spirituality of existence.
It seems these days, the topics of change, evolution, growth and seeming improbability has been frequenting my conscious consideration and compelling me to compose narrative discourse that I hope will find you well and enlighten a truth, which I now know, is available to us all…
You are bound to your belief system.
Good or bad, invigorating or enervating, limitless or completely limiting.
What you believe is possible, becomes so.
A 16 year career forged in one industry. Completely narrow-scoped and tunneled in its development, because, after all, that is what I believed I would do forever.
A decision to walk into the unknown and test uncharted waters paved the way.
The release of a book (“Audacity of Success”), the creation of a new international organization (FTR Nation) and as I typed this message a couple of weeks back, 7 days away from a first concert.
I listened when the call urged me to evolve.
I felt every impulse coercing me to allow change.
I heard all the hushed whispers that blew in the silent breeze of growth.
And I responded in faith.
A writer and spoken song vocalist… That’s what’s next.
Fairly improbable for a man who one year ago sat in a decidedly different chair.
Your winds are wafting gently. Surrender and let them take you.

Yes, I am listening to those whispers and allowing the winds of change to transport me to wherever my heart feels it needs to go. I have a vision of the person I want to be and each day I see her a little clearer…it’s a slow process that requires patience but I have faith that everything I so wish will come to be.
