BG’s Finale

This is the full-length, un-edited finale I gave during our November 30th concert…

Perspective is a thrilling magic that lives inside the breathing textures of this world

And just like with any other kind of magic, illusion, delusion, sleight-of-hand, trickery or fairylike finale, we’re all left just a little bit breathless and a touch giddy with the prospect of what just happened

Did I open my eyes wide enough to feel all there was

Did I unlock my heart long enough to see all there is

Physiology can tell us what it wants, but science should never be mistaken for the holy grail of truth

Because the eyes can feel

And the heart can see

My heart has seen this moment for what feels like an eternity

And my scientifically deduced proof of such claim is grounded is the air-tight empirically interlaced evidence that I wrote this final prose, at least in part, many years ago

Because my heart, even back then, saw what has become tonight, actualized testimony to a truth

I closed my eyes and saw your tears

Perhaps your emotions were stimulated by a particular song and the way it spun you through a memory of him, her, that place or that time

Maybe your thoughts were caressed by a specific vulnerable step made through the grace of dance and the way it took you to a place of imagination within which, your own brazen freedom lives

Or it’s likely that your entire being has been positively overwhelmed by the energy of this room and the sanctity of what’s transpired within it

I’ve also seen your smiles

Your nodding head of approved affirmation

And of course, I’ve seen this silence

The one that’s engulfing us right now and deafening

Pierced only by the authentic but slightly timid voice of a man who desperately hopes he’s done the job he set out to do

To enliven your soul

Not the ostensible layers of your life, ripe with its to do lists, must, should and have to task management enumerations or even the things you’ve come to view as critical because of the societal expectations that grip you…. However false positive they may be

I’m taking about the living essence of what you really are

What I am as well

What connects us all to each other

And the true magic that we hold

Because once you know it, the illusion isn’t really that confounding

Sure, we’re led to believe that there is some sort of mystic power behind how the car, coin or statue disappeared

But the truth is that it hasn’t really disappeared at all

You’ve just been conditioned, through a series of well placed, well timed verbal cues and theatrical gestures to expect to see exactly what the magician wants you to see

The illusion itself, a false positive of the truth

The magic isn’t terribly perplexing, overtly baffling or really that stunning at all

It’s simply just a 1% angle difference from where you’re looking right now

Not deep, hidden or buried beneath

Just parallel

Did you know it was recently discovered that there are several layers of the universe that run alongside the one we know and have been lead to believe is all that exists

A parallel universe

Practically speaking, that means what we see is, in complete actuality, an illusion

A simple matter of conditioning

What we’ve been told to see

What we believe we see

And in every way, what we choose to see

But ‘universe’ is a polysemus type phrase, because although it implies the largess of this space we occupy, it really applies to you

The universe is comprised of atoms, molecules and matter

So are you

We are not organisms or beings who exist within this greater universe

We are the living essence of it

The supposition becomes rather simple at that point

The Natural Law of governance, omniscient capacity and full might or power to create are not domains restricted to the vessel we believe we merely inhabit

Because we are profoundly vigorous extensions of that vessel

We need only to change the story we decide to tell

Alter the compass by shifting the truth

See the parallel by changing the perspective

Speaking of perspective

Did you see supreme confidence when he stepped onto this stage in full buoyancy of belief that he would deliver epic the way you’ve come to learn he expects of himself

Or did you see the introversion as he walked widely outside his comfort zone and has quietly admonished himself for it ever since booking this event and inviting you to it

Did you see the towering hubris of someone who spent a literal lifetime pursuing and succeeding in one specific industry who knew faithfully that he could bring that experience through a different medium to find the same success

Or did you see the apprehensive strain on his face while the same 4 words – what have I done – were echoing in his consciousness since the very moment he left it all behind

Did you see the assured step in his stride

Or the fearful trudge of the timid gait that walks beside him

Did you see the man who can do it all

Or the boy that still lives inside that man who doesn’t believe he can do anything

You see, perspective is fleeting at best and in your case, maybe more of a false positive than you realize

Because had I listened to my illusion of truth, I’d still be there

Wondering and wishing

Frustrated and frantic

Condemned and crying

But I supposed that’s the beauty

All truth is an illusion

A perspective

A sleight-of-hand

Well-timed verbal cue

Well-placed theatrical gesture

1% parallel sightline

Which means you get to create the magic for yourself and aren’t at all subjected to the one you think you’re being forced to see

I See You

So says the Sawubona ethos

But never mistake that philosophy for being a required or otherwise obligatory viewpoint

From wherever you have come tonight, you will return to tomorrow

And I hope this message stays with you in your travels

There is no such thing as absolute truth for your life

Just the illusion you opt create
